Funeral Partners in Fancy Dress

As part of the annual, week-long Dawlish Carnival, Lyndsay Saunders, Mark Carr and Rob Voisey from J H Way Funeral Services put on their fancy dress and took part in the fundraising pram race.
On 15 August, the tremendous trio dressed as members of The Addams Family (Morticia, Uncle Fester and Gomez) raced around Dawlish town. Visiting pubs along the route whilst racing towards the finish line on the Dawlish Lawn.
Early last year, it appeared that a shortage of funds would prevent the carnival taking place; however, as the town council could no longer run the event, a new community group was formed to organise and run the week.
This year, the event was judged by the Mayor of Dawlish, Councillor Martin Wrigley, and the team from J H Way were awarded third place in the ‘most humorous’ category and were the second fastest in the mixed teams.
Many people who watched the race from the streets enjoyed soaking the contestants with water bombs and as they made their way around Dawlish town.
Lyndsay (AKA Morticia) said: “All of the costumes were absolutely brilliant. The whole day was so much fun and it was such a great way to raise money for Dawlish Celebrates Carnival, to ensure the Carnival can take place again next year.”
A collection was taken by volunteers from Dawlish Celebrates Carnival and will be added to any the funds raised from the other events held throughout the week.
